Hello everyone to this week’s edition of Brawl Box Art! Wait, we… the poets??

Last timeWe have come up with two covers for the NES’ Urban Champion compared to each other, and after a week of voting, North America won. The classic pixel art cover took 59% of the vote, while the colorful European and Japanese alternate versions took the remaining 41%.

This week we move from fighting to foosball as we look at two regional covers for Kirby’s Pinball LandOriginally released on the Game Boy in 1993, the pink bird’s pinball adventure isn’t quite as similar to Dream Land as one might expect, but it made for a great game. Pokémon marbles game (using the same engine) on GBC so we can be thankful for that.

Europe and North America have chosen the same design for this match, so we’ll have a classic style duel with Japan.

Be sure to vote in the poll below; but first, let’s take a look at the case designs.

Europe / North America

This is classic Kirby art if we’ve ever seen one! It’s a funny piece of puffball art, with Kirb looking particularly surprised as he bounces off one of the fins, presumably into the path of an obstacle ahead. It’s got Kirby, it’s got a pinball table. What more could you want?

Japan

The Japanese cover focuses more on the Kirby iconography than the pinball game itself. Sure, the latter is still present and true here (we especially like the flip that’s incorporated into the title), but the focus is on Kirby, Dedede, and a bunch of other familiar faces. It’s also definitely the more colorful of the two designs.

Thanks for voting! We’ll see you next time in another round of Box Art Brawl.
