Bullet-Hell Shmup Refuses to Be Categorized in the West Because of ‘Limited Expression’
Japanese developer Outside has announced that its shmup game is extremely dangerous Swing-By version of Redneg Allstars will not be released in the US or Europe as it was denied classification in both regions. As a result, the game is currently only available on the Japanese eShop (thanks, Automatic).
When asked on social media when the game would release in the US, Outside said “The game has been rejected in Europe and the US due to wording restrictions, so it will only be available on eShop Japan”.
It’s unclear exactly what this so-called ‘restriction of expression’ refers to, but it seems that the rankings are not too concerned with the incorporation of suggestive elements (i.e. exaggerated parts of the anatomy women) along with cute, almost child-friendly artwork and pastel color schemes. According to the Steam page, the game also contains “elements related to drug abuse.”
What’s especially interesting to us is how tame the game looks compared to some of the adult titles already available on the Switch eShop – at least at first glance. We can’t be 100% certain that it doesn’t contain something extremely inappropriate, so if you happen to play this game and have more information about the type of content in it, please let us know.
On the other hand, if you like damn games and want to try this one, then you’ll have to get it from Switch eShop Japan.
