According to Lake County Sheriff’s OfficeLopez was arrested and taken into custody on Thursday, July 25. She has since been charged with “DRIFT DRIVING CAUSING DAMAGE TO PROPERTY OR PERSON,” which is a first-degree misdemeanor.
Lopez was also charged with “CHILD ABUSE, AFFECTIVE ABUSE, AND NEGLECT.” Furthermore, the sheriff’s office noted that the subsequent charge is a third-degree felony.
The DUI charge is reportedly set at $2,000 bail, while the abuse charge is set at $5,000 bail. Lopez is currently said to be behind bars with a scheduled court date of August 19.

Based on Fox 35 OrlandoA police affidavit alleges Lopez crashed his Jeep Thursday morning “at the intersection of Johns Lake and Hancock streets.”
Witnesses reportedly called the police. When police arrived, they reportedly found her car “overturned on its passenger side in a ditch.” They also noted that the mother was standing on the sidewalk while her child was reportedly still in the back seat of the car.
“You may not have a problem with alcohol out there — but if you’re drinking and driving, you definitely have a problem with your decision-making,” Lui Delgado, a certified addiction specialist, told the outlet.
Based on Fox 35 OrlandoLopez’s child was taken to the hospital and was found to be unharmed. The child has since been “placed in the custody of the Florida Department of Children and Families.”
New Father Arrested in Florida for Child Abuse
The 21-year-old woman isn’t the only parent facing child abuse charges. Earlier this month, authorities arrived at the home of Joseph Gregory Antonsen and found the decomposing body of his 9-year-old son on the couch.
Authorities also found trash, diapers, beer cans, and rotting food in his home. Police eventually reported that the home had no running water and that Antonsen’s son’s body had been left at the home for days.
