Casting of Frank Stone Game Reveals Dead by Daylight’s Expanded World – PlayStation.Blog
Back in December of last year, we revealed Frank Stone’s casting at the Game Awards and we couldn’t be happier with the reception.
Not only did it become one of the most buzzed about titles at the event, but it was also great to see that like so many of us at Dead by Daylight, people were really excited to go deeper into the universe ours with an independent narrative experience. Expanding the world of Dead by Daylight with the team at Supermassive Games has been a thrill.
Just released at Dead by Daylight’s 8th Anniversary Broadcast, Frank Stone’s New Gameplay Trailer offers a chilling look at our cast of characters, the setting of Cedar Hills, and the unspeakable horrors that await there.
For four aspiring young filmmakers in the summer of 1980, the quaint town of Cedar Hills was the setting for their first foray into filmmaking. With a Super 8 camera in hand, they set out to make their mark in horror cinema with the filming of Murder Mill – an upcoming cult classic with a hidden influence.
Four friends hope to make their mark in the field of horror cinema.
Unbeknownst to them, the bloody history of the Cedar Hills Steel Mill is far scarier than any movie script they could imagine. Is it fate that draws the budding actors here, or something much more ominous? As their film uncovers the long-forgotten secrets of the town’s notorious serial killer, Frank Stone, they will find themselves caught in a web of cosmic horrors beyond comprehension. .
In true Mega Games style, The Casting of Frank Stone gives players a dark, branching story and loads of sinister threads to pull off. Every conversation you choose, every decision you make will write the script – and may be the only thing standing between life and death for this group of young people.
This is a story where surprises lurk around every turn and the choices you make can have consequences that affect the very fabric of reality.
As the story unfolds, players will face horrors beyond comprehension.
Players will have to carefully consider every action they take as they explore this cinematic nightmare. Environmental puzzles and quick-paced events await to test your wits. You’ll also need a keen eye to hunt for clues that reveal the bigger picture as you guide the characters through haunted locations.
“The world of Dead by Daylight is one filled with deep stories,” said Dead by Daylight Sr. Creative Director Dave Richard. “But the game itself has limitations in terms of how we tell those stories. With The Casting of Frank Stone, we can explore these stories through an all-new cinematic experience based entirely on player choice.”
Created for all levels of horror fans – whether they have experience with Dead by Daylight or not – The Casting of Frank Stone lets players get into the ground floor of a terrifying new story.

“We were able to dig deeper into Killer’s origin story and let players really become a part of it, which is unlike anything we’ve ever done before,” Dave added. “It’s all still related to the Entity, but this story takes place in our world, far removed from Trial of the Dead by Daylight, which is very exciting for us.”
The Casting of Frank Stone is due out later this year and until then, we’ve got an exciting roadmap to launch with lots of exciting reveals ahead.
