Check out the new changes to Black Mage, Summoner, and Red Mage in FFXIV
After introducing changes to Physical Range DPS, Final Fantasy XIV Letter from the producer of Live LXXXI Director and Producer Naoki Yoshida has looked at changes to the Black Mage, Summoner, and Red Mage Magical Ranged DPS jobs in the near future. FFXIV Dawn trail expansion.
Similar to Physical ranged DPS changes, the general changes to the Magical Ranged DPS job focus on ease of use and streamlining actions for players. More specifically, Swiftcast recast time will be reduced to 40 seconds and Addle duration will be increased to 15 seconds in the 90s level range for both actions.
For Black Mage, to streamline aspects of the job, one of the main changes involves MP recovery when landing ice spells while Umbral Ice is active, instead of passive MP recovery dynamic over time. Additionally, a new action to reposition Ley Lines below the operator will be added. Yoshida mentioned that, with the newly introduced MP changes, there is a possibility that skill rotation may or may not change.
Summoners will receive a new Solar Bahamut summon, similar to Bahamut and Phoenix. The developers have mentioned that Bahamut currently looks like what the Allagan Empire may have described and that this may not be its true form, hence the addition of the new summon. Other changes include adding an action after the Searing Light Action group buff that allows players to attack. With the introduction of a new Summon, the skill wheel will be updated accordingly. Specifically, the new rotation will be like this: Solar Bahamut, then Bahamut, Solar Bahamut again and ending with Phoenix. Additionally, after much debate, the developers decided that Summoner would keep Resurrection throughout versions 7.0 and 7.X.
As for Red Mages, they try to minimize resource waste. As such, Manafication will now allow enchanting swordsmanship actions at no cost. The AoE Enchanted Sword Combo starting with Enchanted Moulinet will now cost a total of 50 Black Mana and White Mana, similar to its single-target counterpart. Yoshida explained that the single and wide-area target versions being out of alignment seemed odd, so they adjusted accordingly. Other changes include the addition of an attack ability action after Embolden is executed.
