Comcast launches Netflix, Apple TV, Peacock streaming bundle

May 14 –

Comcast is set to launch a streaming package that combines its Peacock service with Netflix and Apple TV, as the broadband and media company seeks to retain subscribers in the face of stiff competition.

The new plan, StreamSaver, will be available to all broadband, TV and mobile subscribers and at a price “significantly reduced compared to anything on the market today,” said Comcast CEO Brian Roberts told the MoffettNathanson Media, Internet & Communications Conference on Tuesday.

The partnership follows a similar deal announced last week between Warner Bros Discovery and Walt Disney – to offer a bundle of Disney, Hulu and Max streaming services.

“We have been successfully and creatively packaging video for 60 years,” Roberts said. And this is the latest version of that and I think it’s going to be a pretty attractive package.”

The loss of broadband subscribers is a thorny issue for Comcast as it faces stiff competition from telecommunications companies like T-Mobile and Verizon. This trend is expected to continue when the federal internet subsidy program ends this month.

Churn – the percentage of customers who have stopped using a company’s service – has also long been one of the main issues facing the streaming industry, as more and more companies turn to service bundling to combat loss subscribers and better compete with industry leader Netflix.

Peacock, the NBCUniversal streaming service of Comcast unit, reported 34 million subscribers at the end of the first quarter, compared with Netflix’s 269.60 million subscribers and Disney’s 117.6 million, not including Hotstar.

In an effort to attract more customers, in April Comcast launched a low-cost prepaid plan called “Now” for broadband, TV and mobile, with flexible month-to-month options .

More details about the Comcast streaming package are expected to be released later this month.
