Crunchyroll Manga app will launch in 2025

Next Crunchyroll decided to discontinue the digital comic app in December 2023, Sony announced at CES 2025 that the new Crunchyroll Manga app and service will launch in 2025. It will initially only be available on Android and Apple iOS devices in the United States and Canada. It’s also designed to be its own service, although some Crunchyroll standard packages will include it.

The initial announcement went through some details. For example, this app is designed to be an additional application and entity. Only North America is mentioned as a launch region for it. Those who already have a subscription can apparently pay extra to add it on. Again, the three options for that right now are the $7.99 Fan for one device, the $11.99 Mega Fan which adds support for four devices, offline viewing, and Crunchyroll Game Vault and the $15 Ultimate Fan, 99 with everything from previous levels, 6 device support, and gift bags after 12 months. (All subscriptions also offer varying levels of Crunchyroll store offers.)

It also revealed that it won’t always be limited to mobile devices. The 2025 launch only confirms support for those of us in the US and Canada. It also only refers to mobile apps. However, it is also expected to support browsers for viewing on things like PCs. In terms of content, the Crunchyroll Manga app’s announcement only mentions series from “famous publishers.”

Crunchyroll’s first manga digital service offered series to read for about 10 years. It first stopped adding to its collection on November 7, 2023. Then it closed that area completely on December 11, 2023.
