Dawn of War – Discover the Gods You’ll Fight on July 18 – PlayStation.Blog

Hey everyone, I’m Simon Dasan, A44’s creative director on Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn. Today we’re revealing one of the most mysterious aspects of the upcoming game, which is set to release on July 18th – the gods have taken over the world of Kian. To do so, we’ve released a brand new story trailer and provided more information below!

Before the siege

Before the Door to the Underworld was suddenly torn apart, the people of Kian had dismissed ancient tales of gods and magic as mere myth. A new age fueled by black powder technology brought previously discordant nations closer together. Even the most conservative places like the Three Peaks began to abandon the old ways in pursuit of the wealth that both trade and technology brought.

The Door to the Underworld itself remains the only bleak reminder of the old world. Once upon a time, the City of Dawn was built around it by those struggling to let go of the dead. In modern times, the Door has become an inexplicable oddity, a landmark for a city that has forgotten its past.

Siege of Dawn

Ten years before the events of the game, an unprecedented disaster struck Kian; the Door opened and the Dead themselves entered the world of the living, flooding the unsuspecting city of Dawn. By the time any understanding of what had happened was known, the city was completely lost, those lucky enough to escape the massacre having abandoned the city by the thousands.

The Dead threatened to overrun the entire world. The Alliance was assembled to answer them, volunteers from many nations banding together to form a makeshift army. At great cost, they repelled the enemy, but ultimately could advance no further than trapping the Dead within the city walls. The door to the Great Below remained open – and the Siege of Dawn had just begun.

Ten years later, black powder technology had finally advanced enough to convince Sama, the Confederate Marshal, to sign on for a mission behind enemy lines. Sama assigned his Engineer unit to blow up the Door and end a decade of suffering. However, the mission overlooked one crucial detail; even after all these years, the Confederacy still had no idea exactly how the Door had opened… or who had opened it.

The Sappers venture deeper into Dawn than anyone before them, only to stumble upon a god’s lair. Faced with a creature straight from the pages of legend, the truth hits them all at once. It wasn’t just the Dead who walked through the Door that fateful day 10 years ago, but the gods as well, intent on taking over a world that had forgotten them.

The Sappers’ intervention had dire consequences. The gods were now truly at ease with the world – each intent on shaping it to their own perfect understanding.

The gods have gone astray

Accustomed to independent domains in the Great Below, the gods divided the living world in the same way, each god ruling over his own portion of Kian.

Dukmar

Dukmar controls Wanderer’s Rest, an ancient land that was once the cradle of Kian civilization and is now a center of learning.

Claiming to be the God of Knowledge, Dukmar’s understanding of the world is distorted by the larger-than-life stories passed down to him by the spirits of the Great Below. Unfortunately, the characters in these stories tend to be conquerors and tyrants, inspiring him to seek the same kind of domination.

The freedom to destroy the Great Above was exactly the kind of opportunity Dukmar had been longing for. Arrogant and ambitious, he wasted no time in taking over an entire city and holding its populace hostage to build a monument to himself.

Rammuha

Rammuha controls the Three Peaks, taking advantage of the people’s conservative beliefs to rule the entire region without ever directly revealing his identity.

A Goddess of Order, her understanding of the world is fueled by mortals’ misguided ideas of law and justice. Rammuha has always existed in the shadow of the more powerful gods of the Great Below, molding her into a cunning and resourceful foe.

Lacking brute strength, she has become adept at manipulating others to get what she wants. She knows exactly how to turn the Knights of Three Peaks’ piety against them, transforming a once loyal organization into her personal army.

Inaya

Inaya, the Goddess of Life, works tirelessly in her role to maintain the natural order of the world. Unlike other deities, she is devoted to her duties and is unconcerned with the invasion of the Heavenly Realm.

Of all the gods, Inaya has the closest relationship with Enki. Aside from the natural order, he is perhaps the only thing that matters to her.

Uru

Uru controls Dawn herself, never letting the Door to the Underworld out of her sight.

Uru the Ravager is the most powerful god, charged with controlling the Door between life and death.

All the other gods, even Enki, feared Uru’s power. The only power that could restrain him was the Door itself, which he could not venture far from.
