Morton’s home is filled with lovingly recreated model fields, complete with players and fans, as well as an impressive collection of football memorabilia. Every year, he opens his doors on December 29, inviting fellow enthusiasts to compete in the annual Subbuteo game.

Firefighters at Muan International Airport in South Korea, at the scene of debris from the Jeju Air plane that crashed upon landing on December 29, killing 179 people. The Boeing 737-800 departing from Bangkok is operated by Korea’s most famous low-cost airline. Only two crew members survived the crash, making it the deadliest plane crash on Korean soil.

Hilde Dosogne completed her 366th marathon in 2024, in Ghent, Belgium, with support from breast cancer research group BIG. Dosogne broke the unofficial Guinness World Record in May 2024 when he completed his 151st consecutive daily marathon.

The world said goodbye to 2024 and welcomed 2025 in style. The event is marked by many spectacular fireworks displays around the world, including one enjoyed by a family at Ancol Beach in Jakarta, Indonesia.

US police say they believe the explosion outside the Trump hotel in Las Vegas on New Year’s Day is not related to the deadly car crash attack in New Orleans. The driver of a Tesla Cybertruck was killed and seven others injured in Las Vegas after the vehicle filled with fuel tanks and fireworks guns exploded.
