Is it worth redeeming Delta SkyMiles for the experience?

Delta had not yet officially launched its improved booking platform at the time of publication. The updated platform will go live on Monday, November 18. As a result, we don’t know how Delta will price the experiences you can purchase outright with your SkyMiles.

If you are bidding on an experience, you must bid in 1,000-mile increments. According to TPG November 2024 valuationSkyMiles are worth 1.2 cents per mile. So if you can get a great redemption rate or have a stash of Delta SkyMiles on hand, bidding for the VIP experience might be worth it.

For example, the SkyMiles Experience platform auctioned off two premium orchestra-level seats to see “The Outsiders” on Broadway in New York City on January 30, 2025. This package also comes with with two playsets signed by the actors, a post-show meet and greet and two designer tote bags. At the time of writing, the bid was 35,001 SkyMiles, worth $420.

On Broadway.com, if I buy a premium orchestra ticket for that particular performance time, it will cost me at least $388. Therefore, redeeming your SkyMiles for auction is not one but two tickets will help you save money. You’ll also receive valuable gifts like a signed flyer and two tote bags, and get to meet some of the cast. Not a bad deal!

However, if this experience comes up to 100,000 SkyMiles, which we value at $1,200, you may feel it’s more worthwhile to save your SkyMiles to book flights and buy Broadway tickets with cash. As always, we recommend comparing the cash rate with the value of the miles. That said, if there’s an ultra-exclusive or VIP experience that really catches your attention, bidding or buying the activity with your SkyMiles might be worth it, no matter the cost. much.

Also, before purchasing or bidding on a package, make sure to read the terms and conditions associated with that package. All bids and purchases for SkyMiles Experience packages are final; therefore, you will not be reimbursed for mileage.
