Skilla Baby Talks About Detroit’s Best Rapper

While talking to Keke PalmerSkilla Baby argued that Eminem is not the top rapper from Detroit, noting that the title fluctuates due to inconsistent output from local artists.

“I don’t know, because if you think about it numerically, Eminem is the best rapper in Detroit. But the funny thing is, no one in Detroit says that,” Skilla said.

When Keke asked Skilla who his favorite rapper in Detroit was, he said he wasn’t sure because everyone had their moment of fame in this city.

“Everybody has their moment as Detroit’s favorite rapper. Sada Baby had one, Tee Grizzley had one, Dugg had one, Babyface Ray had one, Veeze was one of Detroit’s best rappers, Baby Smoove. There are a lot of artists who have had their moment. Everybody has their moment as the best in the city. But, what we lack is consistency. Nobody is consistently the best rapper or the favorite rapper in Detroit,” Skilla continued.

Additionally, Skilla Baby remains firm in his opinion of Eminem. He stated that while Detroit respects Eminem, he does not believe the legendary rapper is currently considered the city’s best rapper.

“But nobody in Detroit is playing Eminem right now, I’m not going to lie. And I was an Eminem fan growing up. I was an Eminem fan, but do we consider him our best rapper? I don’t think Detroit does,” Skilla explained.
