DJ Clark Kent passed away at the age of 58 from colon cancer


Fans and sneakerheads are mourning the passing of DJ Clark Kent. Legendary hip-hop DJ and producer, also known as Rodolfo A. Franklin, passed away at the age of 58 on Thursday (October 24).

Details about the passing of DJ Clark Kent

Billboard reports that DJ Clark Kent has lost his battle with colon cancer after three years. His family confirmed his passing in a statement shared on the New York native’s Instagram page on Friday, (October 25). The statement mentioned that Clark Kent spent his last moments with his wife, Kesha, and children, Kabriah and Antonio.

“We are deeply saddened to share the passing of our beloved Rodolfo A. Franklin, known to the world as DJ Clark Kent. Clark passed away Thursday night surrounded by his devoted wife Kesha, daughter Kabriah and son Antonio.”

In addition, his family also expressed gratitude for everyone’s support but asked for privacy during this difficult time.

“Clark quietly and courageously fought a three-year battle with colon cancer, while continuing to share his gifts with the world. The family is grateful for everyone’s love, support and prayers during this time and requests privacy as they come to terms with this devastating loss,” the statement continued.

Clark Kent began his career in the 80s and achieved his first big success in 1995 producing Junior MAFIA and The infamous BIG ‘Player’s Anthem’ peaked at number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and marked by Lil’ Kim debut. TMZ note that he also collaborated with Jay-Z to produce several songs on Hov’s iconic debut album, ‘Reasonable Doubt’, in 1996. These songs include ‘Brooklyn’s Finest’ featuring Biggie Smalls, ‘Coming of Age’ and ‘Cashmere Thoughts.’

In the late 90s, Clark Kent discovered rapper Bad Boy turned politician timid. He is also a prominent figure in sneaker culture, amassing a collection of more than 3,500 pairs in 2019, according to Billboard.
