Voice actress Noriko Ohara passed away on July 12, 2024. She was the voice actress for Nobita from Doraemon and Doronjo from Yatterman. [Thanks, Game Watch!]
81 Produce announced on July 23, 2024 that she passed away on July 12, 2024. She was 88 years old at the time of her death. According to 81 Produce, she had been in the hospital for an unspecified illness. However, the medication did not work and she passed away on July 12, 2024. At the request of her surviving family, her funeral was held privately.
Ohara has voiced many older anime, making her a familiar character to those who grew up with shows like Doraemon or Urusei Yatsura. Some of her most notable roles include Nobita Nobi in the 1979 version of DoraemonOyuki from the 1981 version of Urusei YatsuraPeter in Heidi, Girl of the Alpsand all the female villains in Bokan Time series (including Yatterman).
Other major deaths in the Japanese anime and manga world in 2024 include Akira Toriyama And TARAKO. Toriyama is the creator of Dragon ball series, as well as character designer for Dragon Quest series. Meanwhile, TARAKO is a voice actress whose most famous role is Maruko from Chibi Maruko-chan.
