Doremon voice actress Nobuyo Oyama passed away


Nobuyo Oyama, the original voice actor for Doremon and more beloved characters, passed away on September 29, 2024 of natural causes. She is 90 years old. [Thanks, Yahoo!]

Oyama began her voice acting career in 1956. Her prominent roles include Doremon in Doraemonand she performed this role for 26 years. Other characters include Monokuma from danganronpa and Katsuo Isono in Sazae-san. Her husband, the late Keisuke Sagawa, announced in 2015 that Oyama had dementia, meaning her career would be on indefinite hiatus. Because of this, Tarako replaced Monokuma for titles such as Danganronpa V3. In addition to her voice work, she also acts in live-action films and television series, and works as a writer, singer, and essayist.

Oyama’s death marks another major death in the anime and manga industry in Japan in 2024.
