Dragon Quest XII: The Flames Of Fate Minor Development Update Shared
Square Enix is currently celebrating ‘Dragon Quest Day’ and although there is an update about Dragon Quest III HD-2D RedoThere have been no announcements regarding the next main entry in the series Dragon Quest XII: Flame of Destiny.
Instead, series creator Yuji Horii did provide a brief update This seems to indicate that the project is still on track. Here’s what he had to say (via Gematsu):
“There was some concern about Dragon Quest XIIBut actually I’m in a meeting [about it] until not long ago.”
Unfortunately, he “can’t share any details yet,” but one thing he mentioned is that he wants it to be “something worthy of the two of them.” [Akira Toriyama and Koichi Sugiyama] The person has passed away”.
Toriyama (Dragon Ball’s creator passed away earlier this year) worked on Dragon Quest as an artist and game composer Sugiyama passed away in 2021.
Dragon Quest XII: Flame of Destiny Originally announced in May 2021 and was described at the time as a film with adult themes and much “darker” than the long-running JRPG series.
No platforms have been announced for The Flames of Fate yet, but at the rate its development seems to be going, Nintendo’s successor for the Switch may be available at the time it is released.
This update on the new Dragon Quest title follows the news that Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake will be available on Switch and many other platforms.
