Black Friday is is around the corner, but some WIRED-approved Amazon devices are already on sale, from Kindle e-book reader ARRIVE fire pellets. If your holiday gift list includes one of those or maybe even a Fire TV Stick, you can start shopping (and saving) early. Many of these products are brand new, like the Kindle Paperwhite (12th generation) or the Fire HD 8, and you’re unlikely to see even steeper discounts during the big sale event, although Doesn’t completely rule that out.

Kindle deals
Paperwhite 12th generation (8/10, WIRED recommended) is ours Kindle favorite (it’s also very new, announced in October). It has all the important features that provide a great reading experience including a large high-resolution display, smooth performance, warm lighting and IPX8 Water resistance assessment. The latest version has the highest contrast ratio of any Kindle (for sharper text and images) and up to three months of battery life. It’s also the thinnest ever. The Signature Edition is also on sale for $155 ($45 off)comes with auto-adjusting brightness, double the storage capacity (32 gigs), and supports wireless charging.
The basic Kindle is a great choice for a compact and affordable e-reader. The latest 2024 model doesn’t offer many new features compared to the 2022 version, but it does have a higher contrast ratio, a 25% brighter front light, and faster page turning speed. As the smallest Kindle, it’s extremely comfortable to hold in one hand and take on the go if you’re someone who often reads books on the go. For fun colors, I recommend Matcha. For under $100, you can’t go wrong with this one.
If you’re raising a bookworm, the kid-friendly Kindle makes a great gift this holiday season. Even though it’s more expensive, we like the Paperwhite Kids better because it has a larger screen (better for reading graphic novels) and it’s waterproof so you don’t have to worry about those accidental spills. Basic Kindle Kids is also available on sale for $95 ($35 off) smaller, more compact and comes with exciting covers to choose from. Both models also include six months Amazon+ KidsAge-appropriate book subscription service and two-year warranty.
Offers for firefighting tablets
Maximum Flame 11 (5/10, WIRED Rating) is Amazon’s most powerful tablet. But its high price, especially when combined with the Productivity Pack, disappointed us. Now that its price is under $200, it’s a much better value. Like all Fire tablets, it’s ideal if you use Amazon’s full range of content and services. It has good performance, a bright and sharp display, solid speakers, and an all-metal build, plus a 1080p camera that’s nicer than what you’ll find on the rest of Amazon’s tablets.
This Fire tablet launched late last year but it’s still the best choice in the lineup, especially at this price point. It comes with a speedy octa-core processor, a large Full HD (1080p) display, and 3 gigabytes of RAM to deliver smoother performance when browsing the web with multiple tabs open. It supports Display Mode, turning the tablet into one Echo Show smart screen if you put it on the stand. You’ll have the choice between 32GB or 64GB configurations, with a microSD card slot that can add up to 1TB of storage on both models. If you want to use a tablet to get work done, you can buy one too Keyboard cover package for $100 ($90 off).
The 2024 Fire HD 8 tablet has just a few improvements. Amazon has increased the RAM from 3GB (up from 2GB), which is likely added for smoother performance when using the company’s operating system. New AI features. The rear camera has been upgraded to 5 megapixels (up from 2 MP). Additionally, it has the same design, size, and 13-hour battery life (we got about 11 hours in testing) as its predecessor. You’ll also get 32GB or 64GB storage options with the ability to expand up to 1TB using a microSD card. It’s a better choice if you want all the features that come with the HD 10 but in a smaller size. The display isn’t as nice, but tablets are more travel-friendly.
This is best children’s tablet for young children. It has all the same features as Amazon’s standard Fire tablets, but you’ll also get a sturdy case and a worry-free two-year warranty. Amazon will replace it for free if your child accidentally breaks it. It also comes with one year free Amazon+ Kidsgives you access to kid-friendly movies, books, apps, and games. You can manage parental control Same on the device.
Fire TV Stick deals
If you primarily watch Amazon Prime shows and movies, the second-generation Fire Stick is the one Our top recommendation. You can still access major streaming apps like Netflix and Max, but the Fire TV Stick is tailored to Amazon Prime content. Like the previous version, Alexa is built into the remote, which has an “Ambient Experience” feature that displays and cycles through scenes of nature or art when you’re not using it, and you’ll have access to picture-in-picture mode to control smart home devices or get security camera feeds. Amazon has doubled the storage to 16 gigabytes in this model and added support for Wi-Fi 6EFuture-proof it a bit.
