Ed Boon Reveals First Look at the Next Mortal Kombat Movie

New Mortal Kombat The film completed filming earlier this year and is set for release in October 2025.

Now, in a new update, series co-creator and Mortal Kombat 1 Director Ed Boon has shared a first look at the sequel. Boon said he saw an “unfinished cut” and joked about taking the image from producer Todd Garner’s phone. Todd even responded to this in a social media exchange.

As you can see, this image features one of Kitana’s steel fans, which serves as her weapon in this popular fighting game series.

In this upcoming film, Kitana will be played by Adeline Rudolph (Riverdale, Evil). Some other new actors in this sequel are Johnny Cage (played by Boys stars Karl Urban), Damon Herriman as Quan Chi (Aligned) and Martyn Ford as Shao Khan (F9: Quick Story). Mortal Kombat 2 will be released in theaters on October 24, 2025.

This sequel will follow in the footsteps of the original, starring a new character named Cole Young (played by Lewis Tan), hit theaters (and HBO) in 2021 and grossed $42 million domestically and $83 million worldwide.
