Final Fantasy XIV Chat Bubbles, Strategy Board Feature Screenshots

At PAX West 2024 Final Fantasy XIV “Put the letter ‘U’ in the UI panel”Chat bubbles and Strategy Board features have been revealed. Global Community Producer Toshio “Foxclon” Murouchi and UI Design Lead Kei Odagiri showed off the first screenshots of both during the beta. The former will provide an additional communication option, while the latter will help strategize battles.

The first screenshot shows three different chat bubble examples in Final Fantasy XIV. So, in addition to seeing messages in chat in the bottom right corner of the screen, you’ll see chat bubbles above every player’s head. Odagiri mentioned that Director and Producer Naoki Yoshida had hinted at the possibility of this feature coming to the game before this latest reveal, but also said that there were still “hurdles” before it could appear.

For the Strategy Board Final Fantasy XIV screenshot, it is confirmed to be the upcoming patch 7.X update. When entering the game, people will be able to arrange icons and plan strategies for certain battles and raids on the map. The image specifically shows the “edit” screen, which allows people to arrange icons, AOE attacks, and other planning icons.

Below are both of those screenshots. Odagiri notes that the localized version of Strategy Board one is not shown because it was added at the last minute.
