While Frontier’s JFK expansion is notable because the airline had never served the airport until this summer, its overall growth in the New York City area is also notable.
As its larger network looks to boost profits, the low-cost carrier will increase its seat count by 207% at the metro area’s three largest airports, according to data from aviation analytics firm Cirium. Those airports are JFK, LaGuardia Airport (LGA), and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR).
Frontier recently returned to the second airport with nonstop service from Newark to San Juan, mirroring a route the airline also launched this month from JFK.
Last line
Don’t expect Frontier to deliver the luxury experience you’ll find at JFK on some international airlines—not to mention Delta Air Lines, which just opened a New Delta One lounge this week.
However, the airline is adding some competition to the market with its growing list of direct flights. And, for travelers willing to pay a little more, you can choose the airline Prepaid Plus Seating options have slightly more legroom and a blocked middle seat.
