Get your fourth or fifth night free when redeeming points

No one likes paying too much for their hotel. So unless you have more points and miles than you can use, getting one Wednesday or Thursday nights are free when redeeming points for hotel stays.

You may be familiar with Citi Prestige fourth night free hotel benefit And Good hotel in Amex + Resort’ free night offers, but they’re not the only option.

In this guide, I’ll discuss four major loyalty programs that offer a free fourth or fifth night to select travelers on award stays. Here’s what you need to know.

Marriott Bonvoy ‘Stay for 5, pay for 4’

All Marriott Bonvoy members automatically enjoy the “Stay 5, Pay 4” benefit when redeeming points for 5 consecutive nights in a single booking at the same hotel. This benefit — which gives you the lowest points value free night — is automatically applied during the booking process if your stay qualifies.

You can get multiple “Stay for 5, Pay for 4” benefits for the same booking. So, if you redeem Marriott points for a 10-night stay, the two nights with the lowest point value of the entire stay will cost you 0 points.

You will only receive the “Stay for 5, Pay for 4” benefit on standard room point costs if you Redeem Marriott points for upgraded rooms.

You can book paid nights or free night rewards — including those earned through Marriott credit card — in the same booking, you use the “Stay for 5, Pay for 4” benefit.

However, nights booked with cash or free night rewards do not count towards the 5-night requirement for the “Stay for 5, Pay for 4” benefit. So you’ll need to redeem points for at least five nights of stays to be charged for the night with the lowest points value.

Hilton Thursday nights are free with award stays

Hilton Title members with elite status get the fifth night free when booking a standard stay rewards room with points. Paid stays, premium room reward stays, and points and cash reward stays do not qualify.

You will pay no points for the fifth, 10th, 15th and 20th nights of your stay if you Redeem Hilton points for a 20 night stay. There’s no limit to how often you can use this perk, but you’ll only get a maximum of four free nights per stay.

You can earn Hilton’s elite status by meeting annual night, stay or facility points requirements. Hilton Silver can be earned at most 10 nights, 4 stays or 25,000 base points per calendar year. You typically don’t want to redeem airline points and miles for hotel stays because doing so often results in low redemption value. But you can often get good value when exchanging gifts Air Canada aircraft points for a stay at the hotel. This is especially true if you have one Aeroplan credit card (incl Aeroplan® Credit Card) gives you a fourth night free every time you redeem three nights.

You can only get every fourth night free on consecutive bookings at the same participating hotel through Specific travel booking sites. So you’ll want to make sure the rates you can book through the site are competitive with the rates you can get when booking directly with the hotel.

You may not receive elite hotel benefits when you redeem your Aeroplan points for your stay. But you can get your fourth night free with up to 30% off at HotelSavers partner hotels. The fourth night free offer ends December 31, 2025, although Aeroplan may extend the offer.

Bottom line

A free night is a great way to increase your redemption rate and get more value from your rewards. I typically redeem IHG points on four-night stays and Hilton or Marriott points on five-night stays; This allows me to maximize my score.
