Google for India 2024: The tech giant hosted the 10th edition of Google For India in Delhi today with several speakers on stage. The event includes announcements related to artificial intelligence (AI) and its important role in changing India’s landscape in several sectors including education, healthcare, lifestyle and other fields. During the event, Google made several announcements related to its AI tools such as Gemini Live, AI overview, Google Pay, and other tools for consumers, merchants, and businesses. Google For India 2024: 10 important announcements
- Overview of Gemini Live, AI in Indian: Google launches Gemini Live for Android users in the Gemini app in English. Now, the tech giant has announced the addition of 9 more Indian languages, such as Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, etc. On the other hand, AI Overview will get Available in 4 Indian languages: Telugu, Tamil, Bengali and Marathi.
- Google Maps with AI: With the help of Gemini, Maps will be able to create a summary from billions of reviews, so it will allow users to quickly find the best-rated restaurants, hotels and other places. It will also include AI-powered image recognition for “relevant results, photo prioritization, and maps for visual exploration.” In addition to these new features, Google Maps will also provide warnings about low visibility and flooded road areas.
3. AI tools for mid-sized businesses: Google has launched Product Studio in Google Merchant Center with Image-to-Video Animation capabilities. Google also introduced the feature to convert menu photos into detailed online menus for restaurants. Additionally, for Indian sellers, Google has included a Business Chat feature through which customers can contact them directly via SMS or WhatsApp from the Search listing.

Upgrade Google Pay: For credit recommendations and planning, Google Pay will now have a new AI-powered support guide where users can ask questions related to repayment cycle, eligibility criteria, EMIs, etc. Google is also expanding its credit providers in GPay, by partnering with Aditya Birla Finance Limited and Muthoot Finance. In addition to these important announcements, Google Pay will now support UPI Circle in India allowing users to share their primary UPI profile/account with others.
5. Google supports India’s health infrastructure: Google will support the Government of India’s Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). This will enable ABDM to enhance its digital architecture. Google Wallet has also partnered with Eka Care, which will benefit ABHA ID holders in accessing their medical cards.

6. Google Safety Engineering Center (GSEC) in India: To enhance anti-fraud and user safety in India, the tech giant announced the Google Secure Engineering Center (GSEC) will be established in India. The organization will include safety engineers, local policy experts and government partners to combat scams and fraud.
7. House of AI skills and new partnerships: To empower students, teachers, sellers, and other professionals, Google introduced AI Skills House, where users can access Google’s top AI courses, on YouTube and Google Cloud Skills Boost for free and without any additional fees. Additionally, Google.org will support the Central Square Foundation to increase awareness and understanding of AI. Additionally, Google.org is also partnering with Rocket Learning to develop AI tutors to teach children basic reading, writing, and math skills.
8. Open Source AI Agent Framework: Google has announced the Open Source AI Agent Framework powered by Gemini to make AI accessible to everyone in India. It will enable consumers to get detailed information about services like products, job opportunities and others on a single platform.
9. Digital public infrastructure (DPI) in a box: This is a new toolkit that includes open networks, digital identity, best practices, learnings and other key components that have driven DPI success.
