Hashino teases unheralded archetypes in metaphor: ReFantazio
In an interview with Famitsu, Katsura Hashino revealed some previously unpublished Prototypes that you can use in Metaphor: ReFantazio. He also provided some more details about their design. [Thanks, ryokutya2089!]
Hashino does not go into detail about new prototype that will be inside Metaphor: ReFantazio. However, he did state that there are some of them like Soul Hacker and Devil Summoner, which are obvious references to previous Atlus titles. This is just a fun little Easter egg from the development team. As for the design of the Prototypes, they all look like they have an actual flesh-and-blood body underneath their armor and capes. Because they designed the Prototypes to look like they had human bodies inside, they all naturally resembled humans.
Archetypes are more work-like than Personas, and you’ll be able to customize them to a certain degree. For example, you can have Archetypes inherit the skills and abilities of others. Unlocking unannounced Prototypes is for those who enjoy rewards and additional content, and receiving them will mark true completion of the game. Ultimately, Hashino said that Atlus’ games aren’t difficult, and more that the team aimed for a balance of difficulty to let the combat system shine the most.
Metaphor: ReFantazio will launch on October 11, 2024 for PS4, PS5, Windows PC and Xbox Series X. You can read our review Its here.
