How to create your own music with AI-powered Suno

First, you need to create an account to use Suno. Browse to website and click the Login button. You can use an existing account from Apple, Discord, Google, or Microsoft, or create a dedicated account by entering your phone number. Then you are signed in with your account.

Before you start creating your own music, you might want to hear what others have created. On the home screen, click the thumbnail of any song displayed. The music starts playing and the sidebar shows you a description of the song along with any lyrics. You can rate a song by liking or disliking it, copying and pasting a link to it, adding it to a playlist, or sharing it.

To create your own music, click Create on the left. Before describing the type of song you want to produce, you can adjust some settings. By default, Suno uses the latest stable model to create your songs, which at this time is version 3.5. Older models are available, as well as the latest beta model. Click the down arrow to see the model number at the top. You can experiment with different models, but you may want to use the default model to start.

Also by default, Suno will create a song with lyrics. If you want an instrumental melody with only melody, turn on the Instrumental switch.

For help writing a description of the song you want, hover over the question mark icon next to Song Description. Following the tip shown, you will want to describe the musical style and theme or theme of the song. Avoid mentioning specific artists and songs; instead, refer to the music genre, such as rock, pop, jazz, classical, or country.

For further assistance, click the Need Ideas heading. Suno suggests a number of themes, occasions and moods to base your song on. Choose one and you can fill in the blanks for the suggested track (just like playing Mad Libs) to add specific music names and genres. When finished, click Create.

If you want to enter your own description, enter it in the text field but keep it no longer than 200 characters. For my song, I created the following description: “a swing-style World War II song about a woman who misses her husband because he’s fighting overseas.”

In response, Suno creates two versions of a song based on your description. Click the Play button for either song to start listening. You can follow the lyrics on the right side as the song plays. Use the controls at the bottom to pause or restart the song, switch between two versions, or repeat the song.

You can adapt either version of the song in certain ways. Click the three-dot icon for the version you want to modify. Move to Edit in the menu. From there, you can change the song title or any lyrics, cut the song to shorten it, or replace part of the song with new music and lyrics.

Next, you might want to try creating a song with your own lyrics. To do this, return to the Create screen. Turn on the switch at the top for Custom. If you’re a competent lyricist, enter your lyrics in the field at the top. To get help, click the Write with Suno button instead. Describe the lyrics you want or enter a topic or theme. Click the Write Lyrics button. Suno will then create two suitable versions of the lyrics for you. Click the Accept this option button to select the version you want to use.

Return to the previous screen, add the genre or mood to the track you want. Click Create. In response, Suno provided two versions of the song. Play either version and you can edit either version if you want.

To work with songs you’ve created, go to Library. For any song, turn on the Public button so everyone on Suno can listen. Click the three-dot icon and you can add the song to your playlist, share it with others via link or email, or download it as MP3 audio or MP4 video.

Finally, you can use Suno on your mobile device. Download the app from App store or words Google Play. Open the app and log in with your Suno account. The mobile version works just like the website but offers some additional options.

Click the Create button to get started. Enter a text description for the theme and genre, but you can try other ways to create the song. Tap Camera and point your device’s camera at the scene you want the song to be based on. Tap Audio and play, sing, or hum a tune to use as the basis for a song. When finished, tap Create.

When the songs are ready, you will be prompted to tap the Play button. While listening to a song, you can like or dislike it, share it with others, or take other actions.
