Huawei plans to hold launch event on September 10 just hours after Apple unveils iPhone

Huawei said Monday that it plans to hold a product launch event this month just hours after AppleApple’s annual iPhone launch event as the Chinese tech giant looks to outpace its US rival.

Huawei said in a post on Weibo, China’s X-like service, that the event will take place at 2:30 p.m. on September 10 Beijing time.

That would be late in the evening on September 9 on the west coast of the United States, where Apple’s event is scheduled to take place.

Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 16 lineup on the morning of September 9 at its event It says “It’s Glowtime”.

It’s unclear what products Huawei plans to launch at the event. Richard Yu, head of Huawei’s consumer and automotive technology group, said the company’s “cutting-edge, innovative and groundbreaking products are here,” according to a Google translation of his Weibo post on Monday.

“This is a product of the times that others have thought of but could not make,” Yu said.

The executive added that after five years of investment, Huawei has “turned science fiction into reality”.
