Hyatt is losing Tommie Hollywood to Marriott. Is Thompson Hollywood next?
While Hyatt has been working to expand its lifestyle hotels over the last few years, one of its better-known properties is leaving the World of Hyatt orbit for something else. Marriott Bonvoy.
It looks like another one may soon follow.
Room 212 Tommy Hollywood (a sister brand to Thompson Hotels and part of JdV by Hyatt) will discontinue its association with Hyatt at the end of this month and affiliate with Marriott. The conversion will result in a new name for the hotel: Hollywood Volume, a memorial portfolio hotel.
Beth Outlaw, general manager of Tommie Hollywood, said in a statement to TPG: “Effective October 28, 2024, 11:59 p.m. local time, Tommie Hollywood will no longer be operated as a Hyatt-branded or Hyatt-affiliated hotel. “We are working with hotel owners to ensure a smooth transition for guests and colleagues.”
Outlaw didn’t have many details, noting only that the hotel will “move to a hotel brand outside of the Hyatt portfolio” — but you can already find the property on Marriott’s website . There’s also a lot of chatter on travel forums (as reported by One mile at a time) that the neighboring 190-room Thompson Hollywood will also likely move to the Marriott and join the Autograph Collection.
A Hyatt spokesperson declined to comment on the rumors and told TPG, “We have no news to share at this time about Thompson Hollywood and business is continuing as usual at the hotel.”

If you have an upcoming paid vacation or World of Hyatt award-winning vacation at Tommie Hollywood from October 29 onwards, Outlaw recommends calling Hyatt’s Global asset and customer service lines at 1-888-848-9496 for US guests or 1-402-952-1131 for guests outside the US. She noted that hotels must honor all paid reservations.
Outlaw added that guests can contact their reservation provider for policy information and support for bookings made through online travel agencies or third parties. other. World of Hyatt members with an award stay should contact Global Guest & Property Services for more details.
World of Hyatt members won’t be completely short on Hollywood options going forward, as the hotel giant’s Dream Hollywood is just a block from the Tommie/Thompson complex. Marriott Bonvoy members will now have a variety of options, with the Tommie-turned-Hollywood Episode just a few steps away. W Hollywood has been recently renovated.
The closure of Tommie Hollywood means that the Tommie sub-brand within JdV by Hyatt now only exists in Austin.
