In Another World, My Sister Stole My Name Isekai Manga Builds a Mystery

Yen Press has a pretty good selection of isekai manga and manhwa, but all of them are try to feel different. In another world, my sister stole my name is one of the latest, with Episode 1 is out nowand it’s a manga with an intriguing mystery. Siblings end up being transported to another world at different times. However, once our heroine Ichika gets there, questions about her, her sister, the two princes they’re about to marry, and the world keep popping up. It constantly keeps you wondering what’s going on, setting up all these threads for us to follow in later volumes.

Editor’s Note: There will be some minor spoilers for the first volume of the manga In Another World, My Sister Stole My Name.

Before Ichika and her little sister Karen are transported to another world in this isekai manga, we already know something is wrong here. In another world, my sister stole my name. Ichika finds a magic mirror, and it is the mirror that allows her to communicate with someone in that world. It is a young prince named Cecil. They share stories about themselves and their world with each other. However, this is a somewhat unusual situation, since he is a child and she is a teenager and then an adult! Ichika keeps it a secret, but tells everything to her younger sister Karen.

However, one day, the mirror and Karen disappeared. Everyone was heartbroken. And then… Ichika found himself transported to that other world as well. It turns out that in addition to the spatial difference between the realms, there was also a time difference. So Prince Cecil was a grown man. This is also the type of manga where isekai situations are common, with those who come here being accepted into the nobility because they have the special ability to use Sacred Magic.

The first mystery, right from the start, is that Karen stole Ichika’s identity and name in In another world, my sister stole my name. From what we see in the first few chapters of their “home” world, Karen and Ichika seem to be close. They seem to get along quite well. So it makes sense that Karen would base her knowledge of Ichika’s story on it. But why go so far? Why is there such hostility? Especially when we start to see how the two sisters interact throughout this first volume.

The second part involves two princes. There is Cecil, whom we know. However, after being transported to the afterlife, Ichika quickly becomes engaged to his brother, Prince Noah. However, Noah not only despises Karen, Ichika’s younger sister, but also Ichika himself. His venomous nature is strange. There are hints throughout, so some future themes are revealed even in this first episode. But the fact that we are faced with that attitude in the first place is intriguing.

But the nature of this isekai story and the summoning of Ichika are the main mysteries in In another world, my sister stole my name manga. The mirror is the obvious link between the worlds. When Ichika is there, we learn about past events and travelers. This is a regular occurrence, which is strange. However, the fact that Ichika is even there. Karen had the mirror and was summoned. The artifact is gone. How did Ichika get there? Why was she pulled in there too? What happens when there are two Hallowed Saints who can use the magic of the saviors there?

It really makes me wish we knew more about the future of In another world, my sister stole my name, Due to the age of the manga and the circumstances, only the first volume of this isekai story is available. Yen Press has yet to set a release date for the second volume. With so much suspense and unanswered questions that the first volume left, I find it hard to see how I’ll have to wait.

Episode 1 of In another world, my sister stole my name now available through Yen Pressand no release date for episode two of the manga so far.
