Intel Xeon 6 with P-core and Gaudi 3 AI Accelerators: Everything You Need to Know

Intel says its Xeon 6 chipset offers twice the performance of the previous generation, with more cores, twice the memory bandwidth and Artificial Intelligence power in every core. Simply put, this processor is ideal for AI computing needs from data and cloud infrastructure.

For the Gaudi 3 AI accelerator, Intel claims it has been specifically tuned to handle large generative AI models, with 43 tensor processing cores and 8 multipliers, boosting neural network capabilities for computation. Additionally, Intel mentions 128 gigabytes (GB) of HBM2e memory for training and inference, and 24 200 Gigabit (Gb) Ethernet ports for network expansion. A key example of the Gaudi 3 deployment is Intel’s partnership with IBM, which is using the Gaudi 3 AI accelerator as a service on the IBM Cloud—reducing the cost of AI scaling.

How do AI systems benefit?

Intel claims to offer a competitive price-performance ratio, making AI accessible with its x86 architecture while maintaining optimal total cost of ownership (TCO) and performance per watt. In fact, Dell and Supermicro have developed AI solutions using Intel’s Gaudi 3 AI accelerator and Xeon 6 processors.
