iPhone Ringtones Composed by Grammy Award-Winning Songwriters – Know If You’re Using Similar Ringtones


Grammy-winning artist Flying Lotus, aka Steven D. Bingley-Ellison, co-founder of the Brainfeeder record label and a renowned music producer, has revealed that he has written several ringtones that have been available on iPhones since the launch of iOS 13 in 2019. These ringtones include the popular “Daybreak” and “Chalet.”

The surprising revelation

This surprising secret was revealed in an episode of the podcast “Twenty Thousand Hertz” that premiered on August 21. The latest episode focuses on analyzing “Apple Sound.”

Flying Lotus Confesses About Creating Two iPhone Ringtones

Flying Lotus recently took to social media X and confessed that “Apple leaked this information so I could say it. I wrote some ringtones that have been on your iPhone since iOS 13.”

Flying Lotus told Exclaim! magazine that he used to make his own ringtones and wanted to create something that would be easy to listen to over and over again.

“One thing that worked in my favor was that I’ve actually made my own ringtones before,” he says. “So I feel like I know what sounds cool when it’s a loop, over and over again. Something that’s alerting, but not annoying. Something that’s musical, but not cheesy. Just finding that balance there, where it’s a little ambient, but also something that stands out,” says Lotus.

Flying Lotus also shared that the Chalet ringtone sound represents “some kind of memory, like you’re listening to an old cassette tape.”

Both Daybreak and Chalet are among the most popular ringtones among iPhone users. These are soft and soothing sounds that feature ambient sounds.

Flying Lotus, a musician known for his 20-year career in the music industry, recently released his new solo single, “Garmonbozia,” last week. The musician released his full-length album, Flamagra, in 2019 to critical acclaim. The album featured artists including Anderson Park, George Clinton, and Solange.

iPhone users can change their ringtone by going into the settings menu and selecting the sounds and haptics option. They can then choose a default ringtone for phone calls and alarms.
