Update number 3 []: French journalist Julien Tellouck confirmed that Genki had been approached by Nintendo’s “lawyers”. during CES about its ‘Switch 2’ model, but there appears to be no NDA signed by the accessory maker:

Update number 2 []: Accessory maker Genki has now reportedly retracted its sources regarding the ‘Switch 2’ accessory. Previously, they claimed that they were in possession of a 2-function Switch device, but in a new interview with GameSparkThe company is now retracting this statement and claiming that its products were based entirely on leaks and industry speculation.

“In previous reports, the person in charge made suggestive comments, leading many to believe that Genki actually held the Nintendo Switch 2 in his hands and created peripherals. However, based on Based on the answers he gave in this interview, it seems like he actually didn’t have the actual equipment at hand and the exhibit was based on leaked information.”

It seems like one of two things happened here. Or Genki embellished his original statements to gain some influence, or perhaps it did do has a functional unit and is now being pressured to deny its claims. Who knows? We have reached out to Genki for more information but they have not yet responded to our request.

In any case, Genki is now claiming that they have yet to see a real Switch 2. The movie continues.


Update number 1 []:

Genki is available a live website shows a video (animated render) of accessories attached to the “next handheld”, which looks like the Switch 2.

Original story: Last week, accessory maker Genki announced that it would be showing off ‘Switch 2’ accessories at CES 2025, and it’s now delivered on this promise.

These new products are said to be being displayed “behind closed doors” and German Netzwelt store has now shared some images online. In addition to the image of a dock with a Joy-Con controller attached, there is also a “Switch 2 replica” on display.

According to reports, attendees were said to be able to “feel” the Switch 2 with this replica model. The publication also goes into detail about the new Joy-Con – mentioning that there is now an extra button on the right controller.

Some other stores have also shared video of Genki’s ‘Switch 2’ clone and clearly there is statement from Genki representative These accessories will likely launch as soon as April.

Nintendo says it will announce a “successor” to the Switch at some point in the current financial year (ending March 2025).
