It’s Time for World of Warcraft to Launch on Xbox and Game Pass

Back in 2004, all the kids at my school were obsessed with World of Warcraft and its original release. As someone who didn’t have a computer at the time, I felt pretty lost. Flash back many years and I’ve come to enjoy World of Warcraft but only play occasionally as someone who plays mainly on console and mobile. So I can’t help but keep hoping World of Warcraft will be available on Xbox and Game Pass.

For many years, I have hoped OH to launch on consoles, especially after other MMOs have been successful. However, I must admit that I gave up on the idea until Microsoft acquired Activision Blizzard in 2023. Suddenly, my hopes of seeing this beloved MMO appear on a platform other than PC were rekindled.

We have already started to see the results of this acquisition, such as Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. While the upcoming title will be released for all platforms, it will be released on the same day for Game Pass subscribers, a pretty remarkable feat for a series that has long been at the forefront of Activision Blizzard’s success.

Likewise OHEven though it’s only popular on PC, with Microsoft involved, one of the best ways to promote Xbox, Cloud Gaming, and Game Pass is to include one of the biggest MMOs of all time. World of Warcraft on Xbox won’t be an easy task for a variety of reasons, including control reasons.

This is the most important barrier to the release of this new platform. However, Final Fantasy XIV proved that it could happen. Using the face and shoulder buttons to switch between hotbars makes this argument worthless. I’ve been playing that MMO on a controller since it came out and have never felt like I was putting my team at a disadvantage even in the hardest content because of my input device.

There are also many ways to play. World of Warcraft With today’s controllers, such as many add-ons like Control Gate. With so many potential players on Xbox, this seems like a surefire way to add to the already large community. Plus, it would be great to be able to play on TV, on PC, and even on the go with Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Regardless of whether or not World of Warcraft Whenever it comes to Xbox, it should still be on Game Pass. Even if it’s not part of Xbox Game Pass, PC subscribers should consider this game a privilege. One of the biggest problems with attracting and retaining new players, like me, is the subscription model. It makes perfect sense, and I’m not asking for it to change. But in a day of so many subscriptions, it’s becoming difficult to consistently sign up to play.

Have WoW of Having a subscription as a Game Pass perk would be fantastic. It would encourage players to continue to run Game Pass to benefit from both the library of games and the ability to hang out in Azeroth. This might involve another price increase or a new tier, but it would be worth it. I don’t think I’m the only Game Pass subscriber who would jump into WoW again if I only had to worry about a subscription on the Microsoft side.

It would be a great business decision for World of Warcraft Xbox and Game Pass are finally coming. A whole new audience of players will be able to check them out for the first time. It also has the potential to increase the number of Game Pass subscribers. After all, they’ll only have to worry about one subscriber and get a ton of different benefits. Hopefully we’ll see OH on Xbox and Game Pass sooner or later.
