The latest boxed chart data from Japan is now available courtesy of Famitsuand once again, we can see that the Switch is still comfortably dominating the region in both hardware and software sales. Astro Bot is the only representative from Sony’s PS5 platform.
Honestly, it’s crazy Mario Kart 8 Deluxe continues to sell very well. More than 7 years after the launch of the Switch, there are only a few months (weeks..?!) left until we learn more about the Switch successor, the arcade racer has now surpassed 6 million units sold in area. Of course, worldwide, the latest data confirms that the game is currently sitting at over 60 million copies sold.
That is to say, Animal Crossing: New Horizons is gradually approaching that attractive milestone of 8 million…
For the full details, here’s a full overview of the latest top 10:
Looking at the week’s hardware, Switch figures are up slightly from previous data, while PS5 figures are (surprise, surprise) down slightly. Sony’s price increase for its platform obviously hasn’t come down too far, and it’ll be interesting to see what the sales figures look like as we get closer to the end of the year and the eventual launch of the ‘Switch 2’.
