Japan Charts: Emio Takes Fifth Place in New Release Week
We’re back with our latest look at Japan’s video game sales chart (via Famitsu Magazine) and it was a really busy week for new releases, with eight titles in the top ten debuting.
The big new event for Nintendo fans is the arrival of Emio – The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Clubis working much better than UK and reached number five with 25,028 copies sold. Gundam Breaker 4 On Switch, however, it took the top spot this week with 52,825 sales (the PS5 and PS4 versions came in third and sixth, respectively).
Elsewhere, Umamusume Pretty Derby – Party Dash made a splash in the second, while Mana’s Vision on PS5 and 4 first appeared on the chart at fourth and ninth place. Oh, And Star Wars Outlaws also entered the top 10 in its first week of release, selling 10,087 PS5 units and ranking eighth.
All these new releases and it still isn’t enough to rock Mario Kart 8 Deluxe out of the race, huh? We’ll see if Astronomy bot could change everything next week.

Now onto the hardware, and after leading last week, it seems Sony’s PS5 price hike in Japan didn’t do wonders for console sales as the OLED Switch once again took the number one spot. Nintendo’s biggest hybrid console sold another 43,410 units this week, while the PS5 followed with 26,912.
Combining the console SKUs puts the Switch at 63,651 and the PS5 at 33,865. With major titles launching for both this month, we’re keen to see what happens to the charts.
