Joe Budden speaks out about Drake’s petition against Universal Music Group
During a recent episode of Joe Budden’s podcast, Joe didn’t hold back when talking about Drake taking pettiness to the next level with two legal filings against Universal Music Group. Joe bluntly called Drake “selfish and manipulative,” even calling out the ‘Rich Baby Daddy’ critic for doing some dirty work behind the scenes.
“Or he is a selfish, lying, manipulative person who has been making enemies for 15 years. And now somewhere here, the damn boiling point. You’ve been standing behind the scenes as the biggest asshole you could possibly be… And he’s white, and he’s Jewish, and he’s got his hands on the chip so much me. You were behind the scenes beating n**** mothers, sending money to n**** mothers. Yo dawg, texting n****’s wife… Dawg, this is bullshit behind the scenes and because he has fans and Lucien everyone just turns a blind eye. The days of blindness are over,” Budden said on board.

This is Tea on Drizzy’s Universal Music petition
Drake caused a stir online when he decided to sue Kendrick Lamar in court earlier this week. As TSR previously reported, instead of suing Kendrick Lamar directly, the Canadian rapper went after Universal Music Group. According to reports, he is accusing the label of using a “pay scheme” and bots to include K.Dot’s diss song ‘Not Like Us’. TMZ.
Drizzy also claimed that he received information from an “internal source” at UMG who said the label paid platforms, including radio stations and influencers, to promote promote the song. He was also seen questioning how quickly the song appeared on streaming services like Spotify. If true, Drake allegedly has evidence that UMG “violated” payola laws.
Music group Universal responds to Drake
Universal Music Group didn’t let Drizzy slide so easily. The label has disputed his allegations, with a spokesperson denying his claims in the November 25 petition.
“The suggestion that UMG would do anything to sabotage any of their artists is insulting and untrue. We employ the highest ethical practices in our marketing and advertising campaigns. None of the contrived and absurd legal arguments in the filing before this action can hide the fact that fans chose the music they wanted to hear,” the spokesperson said in a statement.
UMG also said Diversity in a separate statement that fans, not record labels, should decide what music they want to hear. “None of the spurious and absurd legal arguments in the filing before this action can hide the fact that fans have chosen the music they want to hear.”
