Jon Stewart criticizes Trump, says Kamala was “crushed” in debate
The gloves have come off and the battle for the presidency has begun in earnest. After Vice President Kamala Harris and former president Donald Trump first face-off in a presidential debate, Daily program‘S Jon Stewart went directly to In short their confrontation: “She broke it.”
Stewart criticized both candidates after Harris and Trump’s first and only scheduled debate, to date, Joe Bidenthe disastrous performance of in June to criticize both candidates for not answering questions directly. “Ladies and gentlemen, I just want to say that after living through the PTSD of the last presidential debate, it was refreshing to go back to that old line of ‘nobody is going to answer any damn questions,’” Stewart said. “We’re back! America is back!”
But it soon became clear to Stewart who was winning the battle for “PaWiNevMiAzGaNc”—the cheeky name Stewart gave to the swing states. (All the rest live in NoOneGivesAShitistan.) Daily program The host criticized Trump for his answer to a question about abortion rightsespecially Trump’s claim that “Democrats, Republicans, and everybody else, and every legal scholar” wants to overthrow Roe v. WadeStewart called Trump’s remarks “completely false,” then pointed to a clip of Harris clapping back at the former president.
“I’ve talked to women all over our country,” Harris said. “You want to talk about what people want? The pregnant woman who wants to carry her pregnancy to term, has a miscarriage, is denied care in the emergency room because health care providers are afraid they might go to jail, and she’s bleeding out in her car in the parking lot? She doesn’t want that.”
“Damn it,” Stewart replied. “She blew it!”
Stewart continued to criticize Trump, calling out the former president for ignoring questions about his guilt in the events of January 6. “You spent two months making your base angry that our country was literally stolen from them through fraudulent means, that you could never even smell the country in court, and then you — you abused them,” Stewart said. “You kept going. You abused their trust. You showed up to speak? You tweeted, ‘Join me on January 6. It’s going to be crazy.’ But now all of a sudden: ‘I’m just a magician hired to do a bar mitzvah! I didn’t do anything. I showed up with a hat and a rabbit and then the whole party got out of control!’”
Stewart also highlighted Trump’s lack of accountability in one of his most telling points of the debate. “One thing will always be true, and it’s the quality of the former president that I respect the least: Whenever he’s backed into a corner and forced to face even the slightest consequence for his own lies and conspiracies, he retreats to the biggest hideout of scoundrels,” the host said. “As Rough will say, ‘Not me!’”
