Jonathan Majors plays his first film role since being convicted of assault

Jonathan Majors secured his first film role after being convicted of assault. According to Hollywood Reporter, The 34-year-old actor will star in Merciless, a supernatural revenge thriller.

Details about Jonathan Majors’ upcoming movie role

The plot is said to be based on a CIA interrogator who encounters and is forced to remove an evil energy that has possessed his loved one. Filming is scheduled for the fall.

Christopher Tuffin, producer of the box office hit ‘Sound of Freedom’, will produce the film. Kevin Townsend and Kevin DeWalt will also serve as producers. Frank Hannah wrote the script and Martin Villeneuve, brother of ‘Dune’ filmmaker Denis Villeneuve, will bring the project to life.

As previously reported by Shade room, the actor lost several movie roles and campaigns after his legal troubles began. Searchlight Pictures declined to distribute ‘Magazine Dreams’ following his guilty verdict in December 2023. Additionally, Marvel Studios dropped Majors after he was slated to play Kang in the film ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty’.

Furthermore, Diversity reported that Majors was dropped from the film The Man in My Basement, produced by Protagonist Pictures.

Performer also dropped from the highly anticipated movie ’48 Hours In Vegas’, which revolves around Dennis Rodman. Lionsgate plans to reveal the NBA superstar’s infamous Vegas trip during the ’98 NBA Finals. However, everything collapsed when the ‘Creed’ actor was found guilty.

Majors’ attack derailed his career

As previously reported, Majors was charged with assaulting Jabbari during a car ride in March 2023. He was later convicted of one count of third-degree assault and one count of second-degree harassment. Jonathan tried to beat one count of assault in the third degree and aggravated harassment in the second degree.

Before his conviction, Majors’ career and opportunities were increasing. The comedian had a breakout role in ‘The Last Black Man in San Fransisco.’ He then won Spike Lee’s ‘Da 5 Bloods’ and wowed viewers with his role as Tic in ‘Lovecraft Country’.

Critic said that this role could have made him a leading man. Majors once again received the opportunity to make a movie with his role in ‘Merciless’.
