At the Mark Hotel, where celebrities gathered with their glam squads to prepare for the ceremony. Met Gala 2024, before the storm there is peace, as always. In the late afternoon, the elevators stopped working for everyone except those with urgent appointments at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

On Monday, Instagram took advantage of the relative quiet to gather its guests overnight for a class photo before they hit the carpet. Members of the group were arranged to sit together inside the big event, but their group portraits were created with the help of a little computer magic. Each guest had their solo photo taken by Djeneba Aduayom, who along with his team transformed the scenes into a surreal tableau.

Instagram executives were the first to take turns in the hotel room as a makeshift photo studio, decorated with a pink-blue backdrop and a few cherry blossom branches as accessories. The head of the company, Adam Mosseri, interpreted the night’s theme, “The Garden of Time,” by choosing a custom Tanner Fletcher velvet suit with a row of brooches that reflected the important things in his life. Had one M for my wife, Monica; a piece of jewelry for each of his three sons; and a book-shaped locket containing a map of London. Monica then posed for a few portraits with her husband, wearing an Oscar de la Renta dress with floral embroidery.

The platform’s Director of Fashion Partnerships, Eva Chen, wearing a Robert Wun dress depicting a garden in winter, complete with a snowy tulle train. Her beauty look acted as an extension of her dress, with matte white eyeshadow and a hint of fluffy snow on her eyelashes.

Later, actors Colman Domingo walked into the room wearing a Willy Chavarria outfit, featuring a cape and ruffled black palazzo pants. He finally unbuttoned his blazer to reveal a very deep V-neck shirt. Even Domingo himself was surprised by how well his outfit was captured. “Great!” he exclaimed, looking at himself on the screen.

Reggaeton music star Rauw Alejandro arrived in a sequined, chain-mail-like, orchid-patterned top and impeccably tailored pants, all by Ludovic de Saint Sernin. Performer Jonathan Bailey wearing a Loewe suit, which had a flower on the top button and another hidden at the hip. His team provided hairspray to ensure his locks stayed in place. To emphasize the “time” in his look, he posed with his watch clearly visible. “Thank you so much,” he excitedly told the Instagram team.
