Limbus is temporarily down in FFXI
Square Enix announced that players FFXI Limbus will soon be inaccessible due to updates and upgrades. This will be a temporary measure. There’s no word on how long maintenance in this area will last. However, for now everyone will have the opportunity to continue exploring this dimension as work will not begin until the launch of the February 2025 update.
FFXI Director and Producer Yoji Fujito announced the discontinuation of Limbus on the day Official forum for the game and talk about why that dimension will be temporarily unavailable. The goal is to make them “independent of group type” so that they will be set at “everyone’s current level.” This will make it easier for more players to enter Apollyon and Temenos. Fujito also revealed what this area will look like after the update. He noted that there will be “brand new adventures” in the statement. He also mentioned that Limbus will not require Ancient Beastcoins after the update, but during the downtime there will be ways to get those, chips and equipment upgrade materials.
In his new year message 2025Fujito talks about the future of the game. While Limbus didn’t make an appearance, he did discuss changes to gameplay elements like Siege. He again mentioned that there will be higher levels for it soon.
