Meghan Markle mourns the loss of her beloved dog


Less than a week later Meghan Markle debut her new Instagram accountshe used it to share news of a recent loss. On Tuesday, she announced the death of Guy, the rescue dog she owned for nearly a decade, with a lengthy caption. “Thank you for your unconditional love for so many years, my sweet boy,” she wrote. “You have filled my life in ways you will never know.”

Alongside a video of Guy at different stages of his life, she explains why she owns the dog. “In 2015, I adopted a beagle from a dog rescue in Canada. He was in a no-kill shelter in Kentucky and was given a few days to live. I picked him up…. and fell in love,” she wrote. “They called him ‘little guy’ because he was so small and weak so I named him ‘Guy’. And he’s the best guy any girl could ask for. If you followed me on Instagram back in the day, you would have seen a lot of him—on and on tiger also. He was with me at Suits, when I got engaged, (and then married), when I became a mother… He was with me through everything: the quiet, the chaos, the peace, the comfort.

Meghan added that Guy was injured in an accident a few months before her passing. she moved to the UKthanked the vet who took care of him when she and Harry lived in Surrey. She also thanked the veterinarians who cared for him in Toronto and those who have cared for him recently.
