How did a Bronx MTA bus end up hovering over the freeway?
According to New York Post Office, an MTA bus driver lost control, made a wrong turn and crashed through the stone wall of Henry Hudson Avenue around 8:40 a.m. on Friday, January 17. A video was shared on X (formerly Twitter) of the New York Post showed the bus teetering on the edge, with giant rocks scattered across the road.
ABC 7 News reported that the bus had no passengers on board because it had just begun its journey to Manhattan. The driver had difficulty maneuvering around a parked car on the Henry Hudson Parkway service road. After passing the parked car, the bus hit the curb and got stuck between the grass and the ditch.
A second bus driver, stuck in morning traffic a few vehicles away, offered assistance. Grabbing the steering wheel to help, the second driver tried to negotiate the difficult turn, but the bus lost control and crashed through the retaining wall.

“The way the car is tilted and parked doesn’t hug the curb, so it limits the amount of space we have. Express buses are longer than local buses. So this makes it a bit difficult for the courier service operator to travel because we have 45 feet and the local buses have 40 feet,” Soler explained.
