My Citi Costco Anywhere Visa Card is a great help when it comes to refunds
If you asked me to choose my favorite credit card, I would have a hard time choosing between my two current favorite credit cards: Costco Anywhere Visa® Card by Citi (see exchange rates and fees) and Reserve Chase Sapphire®.
When I signed up at Costco, I upgraded to an Executive Membership and signed up for the Costco Anywhere Visa. Because I signed up during the promotional period, I also received an $80 cumulative bonus in the form of a digital store card (which never expires) upon credit card approval.
The Costco Anywhere Visa shines in two areas where my family spends a lot of money: gas And restaurant. Considering the decent amount of cash back this card offers on categories beyond gas and restaurants, choosing to become a cardholder is a no-brainer.
Here are three more reasons why Citi’s Costco Anywhere Visa is the top card I use every day.
Refunds in major categories
Most of my family lives 40 minutes to three hours away from me, so fueling up to drive to visit them can take a lot of extra energy. Luckily, a generous 4% cash back on gas and electric vehicle charging on up to $7,000 in spending per year (then 1% after that) means I have the opportunity to earn rewards on every trip go that I made. Additionally, my household includes a daily commuter who gets gas twice a week and is an authorized user on my device. Visa Anywhere Costcogives me even more rewards in this category.
Then there’s unlimited 3% cash back on eligible restaurants and travel categories—including airfare and cruises booked through Costco Travel—which gives me extra rewards. As a hobby chef, I love trying new recipes and hosting dinner parties for friends and family; However, there are nights when I don’t have much time or simply don’t have time to cook, and that’s when the 3% restaurant cashback comes into play. My family also loves trying new restaurants, and since I’m close to two major metropolitan areas (New York City and Philadelphia), there’s no shortage of places to explore when I’m looking for something new.
I also get 2% cash back on all purchases from Costco and Costco.com, which I constantly look for for flash sales and other deals. Plus, the added benefit of 1% cash back on all other purchases is top notch — even if I don’t earn higher cash back rates in my key categories, I still Earn rewards every time you tap your card.
The main thing to note when redeeming cash back rewards with the Costco Anywhere Visa is that you can only do so once a year, which is different from most cards that make your rewards redeemable at the end of each billing cycle maths. If you’re someone who likes to redeem your rewards on a more frequent rotating basis, this card may not be the best card for you.
Pay for my Costco membership
I love Costco, but since the closest store to me is 30 minutes away, I usually shop at the warehouse every five to six weeks. This means my Costco trips are the ones I get grocery such as produce and meat in bulk (largely frozen and preserved for use in future meal preparation) and sometimes larger items such as kitchen utensils, cookware and even indoor-outdoor furniture.

Within the first two months of opening Visa Anywhere Costcothe cashback I accumulated with the digital store card I earned more than paid off my $120 annual Costco Executive Membership fee (not to be confused with the annual fee this card Not available).
Essentially, this credit card pays for your Costco membership while increasing your ability to earn cash back across multiple categories — some of which you can even combine, but just for a short time.
Doubles as a decent travel card
While most people don’t consider Visa Anywhere Costco A travel card in the traditional sense, it offers users great perks, including no foreign transaction fees anywhere Visa is accepted and 3% cash back on car rentals, stays at hotels and other eligible travel categories.
But one of my favorite perks — which I also think is one of the best and want to tell everyone — is that cardholders can combine 3% cash back on qualifying travel with the 2% rebate that everyone with a Costco Executive Membership receives. for a total of 5% cash back on travel rewards. This is especially exciting for me because my family takes a group trip every few years and our 2024 adventure will be booked using my Costco Anywhere Visa. This will result in a one-time cash refund payment next year.
Bottom line
the Citi’s Costco Anywhere Visa Card makes it easy for you to maximize your cashback rewards. I’m a big fan of its multi-functionality and attractive cashback offers in its most frequently used categories.
In addition to being a great travel card, the Costco Anywhere Visa also serves as your Costco membership card, so it’s no big deal if you forget your actual membership card at home. It’s nice to know that no matter what you buy, you’ll earn 1% cash back every time you use your card.
Since it’s been instrumental in earning my cash back rewards, this card has become a permanent part of my regular rotation and one I plan to use for the foreseeable future.
