Nekokurage will remain the artist for The Apothecary Diaries manga
On September 9, 2024, Nekokurage, the artist of the manga adaptation of Pharmacy Diaryhas given a update about her tax evasion status. In short, she will continue to work on the series.
In a handwritten note, Nekokurage apologized for all the trouble she had caused everyone. She deeply reflected on her actions after receiving the guilty verdict and has now hired an accountant. She vowed that she would not repeat this mistake in the future. Nekokurage also thanked the readers who told her that they still wanted to see her artwork in the manga, as well as those who allowed her to continue as an artist. She hopes that her work can repay everyone, as well as a way to show her gratitude.
Nekokurage, or Erika Ikeda, was convicted of tax evasion in 2011. July 2024The Fukuoka District Court sentenced her to three years in prison, suspended, and also fined her 11 million yen. She pleaded guilty in June 2024 after evading 47 million yen in taxes. According to her, she planned to declare several years’ worth of taxes at once, even though people around her (including the author of Pharmacy diary) gives her financial advice. Again, Nekokurage is the artist of the manga adaptation, not the original light novel.
