NES-inspired platformer ‘Everdeep Aurora’ will deliver healthy vibes in 2025

We’ve got our first look at Nautilus Games’ Eternal Aurora in Healthy Live 2023 before embarking on implementation BitSummit earlier this year. We’re liking what we’ve seen so far, so it’s exciting to know that the cute cat’s adventures now have a release date: Third quarter of 2025.

Admittedly, that seems a long way off, but we’re hopeful that 2025 will bring plenty of excitement before then (Please), so we’re sure it will fly by.

Everdeep Aurora is a wholesome platforming adventure where you’ll have to help adorable little cat Shell reunite with her mother after a disastrous meteor shower separated them. Doesn’t sound like the coziest setup, does it? But this brings sanity by focusing on the vibe. The NES inspiration is heavily supported in the visuals and limited color palette, and the classic sound design and square interface are also bringing us back.

It was also a completely non-violent experience. Shell’s journey is about drilling through procedurally generated blocks, solving platforming puzzles, and meeting friendly characters along the way instead of fighting in the overworld like other Little knight can do it. It feels great to enjoy a cup of tea.

Here’s a brief summary and some screenshots provided by Nautilus and publisher Ysbryd Games:

Explore civilization’s underground hideouts as Shell, a young cat on a mission to reunite with her mother after a catastrophic meteor shower separates their family. Drilling deeper and deeper into the Earth’s surface creates opportunities to create foundations in procedurally created rock formations. Explore lakes and underground terrain, beautiful temples, dusty ruins, and mysterious laboratories.
Forge new friendships with over 20 charismatic citizens of Everdeep and complete quests to strengthen their bonds. Find peace in Aster’s hidden garden, power Shell’s drill with Remulus’s blacksmith skills, and find a familiar face among the entanglements of Everdeep with Ribbert’s guidance. Find comfort in the theme of each citizen’s music as the underground world becomes more and more lonely.

A Q3 2025 release is still a long way off, but we like what we’ve seen so far. We will be eyeing a safer date in the coming months.
