New Orleans corporation sues Beyoncé for copyright infringement
Old New Orleans group Leather Showstoppaz are suing Beyoncé, Jay-Z And Big Freedia because of copyright violation. Beyoncé’s 2022 single, “Break My Soul,” is at the center of the lawsuit.

Da Showstoppaz accused Beyoncé of copyright infringement
On Wednesday (May 22), Tessa Avie, Keva bourgeois, Henri Braggs And Brian Clark of Da Showstoppaz filed a federal copyright lawsuit in the Eastern District of Louisiana for alleged copyright infringement and unfair trade practices for its use of the phrase “Release a Wiggle.”
Based on Fox8Live, Da Showstoppaz is accusing Beyoncé of crediting Big Freedia for “Release the Wiggle.” The bounced artists also claim that Big Freedia used the quote in her 2014 single, ‘Explode’.
Fox8Live further reports that Jay-Z is also a defendant in the lawsuit, along with other writers and producers who assisted Bey and Big Freedia in the creation of both songs.
Da Showstoppaz’s lawsuit argues that Big Freedia uses “wiggling yo drops” repeatedly throughout ‘Explode’. Nearly a decade later, Queen Bey sampled “Explode” in her song “Break My Soul,” which debuted on her album “Renaissance.”
According to the complaint, Da Showstoppaz is seeking credit for “Release a Wiggle” on both ‘Explode’ and ‘Break My Soul.’
Additionally, the group seeks any damages related to profits both musicians made from the ‘Break My Soul’ tour and Beyoncé’s film ‘Renaissance: A Film.’
Queen Bey causes fever with her natural hair
Beyoncé recently made headlines after showing off her natural hair. In April, the singer caused a stir on social networks after posting a photo videotapes that details how she maintains her hair.
In the voiceover, the ‘Heated’ hitmaker shared about her hair washing habits as well as the Cécred products she uses to keep her hair healthy. The clip shows the award-winning singer brushing her famous long blonde hair, blow-drying it and straightening it.
