New PS5 beta launches tomorrow with personalized 3D audio profiles and new Remote Play settings – PlayStation.Blog

Thanks to feedback from the PlayStation community, we’ve introduced many new features and improvements over the past few years to enhance your gaming experience on PS5. Starting tomorrow, we’re excited to launch a new PS5 beta that introduces personalized 3D audio profiles for headphones and earbuds, as well as the ability to limit Remote Play access to individual users. Additionally, PS5 beta participants will be able to The latest, thinner PS5 model will be able to test adaptive charging for their controllers.*

While beta access is limited to invitees in select countries**, we plan to roll out the update globally in the coming months. If you are selected to join the beta, you will receive an email invitation tomorrow when the beta is available for download. Some features available during the beta may not make it to the final version or may change significantly.

Here are the key highlights from this beta:

Personalized 3D sound profiles for headphones and earbuds (available for all PS5 models)

In this generation, 3D audio is one of the main ways that creators have enhanced the immersive quality of games. As individuals, we all hear sounds differently based on the size and shape of our heads, ears, and ear canals.

We’re excited to introduce a feature that allows your PS5 console to create a personalized 3D audio profile just for you. With a set of headphones or earbuds like Pulse Elite Wireless Headphones or Pulse Explore Wireless HeadphonesYou can run a series of audio quality tests that analyze a large number of factors to create a sound profile that best suits your hearing characteristics. For example, your personalized 3D sound profile can allow you to sense the position of characters and objects in the game world more clearly than before, making the experience more immersive.***

To create a personalized 3D sound profile for your headphones or earbuds, visit [Settings] > [Sound] > [3D Audio (Headphones)] on your PS5 console and follow the on-screen steps. Your audio profile will be saved on your PS5 for each user, and you can still choose from the same 3D audio presets as before.

This feature builds on the 3D audio enhancements we’ve introduced to PS5 since launch, including 3D audio support for built-in TV speakers and support for compatible audio devices that support Dolby Atmos. These features give you additional options to immerse yourself in a richer range of sounds in PS5 games, powered by Tempest 3D AudioTech.

The PS5’s Tempest 3D AudioTech audio technology was tested and tweaked using the audio rig setup described here, featuring PS Blog’s Sid Shuman.

Enable Remote Play for each user (available for all PS5 models)

You can now adjust Remote Play settings for each user and choose who is allowed to connect to your PS5 console using Remote Play. So if your friend or family member comes over and logs into your PS5 console with their PlayStation Network account, you can easily change who can continue to access your PS5 console using Remote Play when they leave.

To adjust these settings, go to [Settings] > [System] > [Remote Play] > [Enable Remote Play]and select the user you want to grant access to your PS5 console via Remote Play.

Adaptive charging for your controller (available for latest ps5 model)

Adaptive Charging for DualSense Wireless Controller, DualSense Edge Wireless Controller, PlayStation VR2 Sense Controller, and Access Controller is now available to PS5 beta participants using the latest PS5 model, when the console is in sleep mode. Adaptive Charging saves power by adjusting the timing of power delivery to your controller based on battery level.

To use adaptive charging, visit [Settings] > [System] > [Power Saving] > [Features Available in Rest Mode]and then select [Supply Power to USB Ports] > [Adaptive].
