New Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble update launches today, here are the full patch notes
SEGA has today released a brand new update for Super Monkey Ball: Banana Warbrings the latest entry in the banana ball throwing series to version 1.20 and adds a few a-peel-ing new features (Sorry).
There are a few notable changes in this patch. First, the game is launching another collaboration with food company Divideadds new banana designs, items, and special stages. There’s also a new Battle Mode game called Gem Heist, an additional option to skip the end-stage animation, improved online matchmaking, and many other tweaks and fixes.
Oh, and there’s also news of two new characters — Jet set‘s beat and Crazy TaxiAxel — will join the game on September 19 as a separate purchase (unless you have the Digital Deluxe Edition).

- Updated the game with special stage designs and banana themes as well as limited edition style items as part of a collaboration with Dole
- Added Gem Heist, a new Battle Mode game
- Added option to see players behind you in Battle Mode
- Improved matchmaking for Battle Random People
- Fine-tuned layout and visuals of Cookie Circuit, Rose Tower, and Farm Frenzy Race Mode levels
- Enabled the option to customize your Chat Wheel on the mode select screen when battling with friends online or via local communication
- The cancel button can be used to skip the animation that plays after passing an Adventure Mode stage.
- Silencer in combat mode
- Added additional content
- Fixed a bug where passing another ball would cause the Item Bar to constantly fill in Battle Mode
- Fixed a bug that caused your character to tilt in one direction when going through Wormholes in Adventure Mode
- Fixed an issue in Adventure Mode and Win Race Mode where players could not reach the finish line if they overshot the finish line after colliding with the finish line at high speed
- Fixed features affected by the Ver. 1.11 update’s framerate adjustments — camera sensitivity settings, conveyor belt movement, and seesaw physics are now consistent with their behavior in Ver. 1.10
- Fixed issues related to playback and ghosting created in previous versions
- Improved game stability
- Improved multi-monitor display/visuals in game and fixed other minor bugs
- Rebel graffiti artist Beat and iconic Crazy Taxi driver Axel will join the party on September 19, 2024 at 7:00 PM PT! Each character has their own unique quirk: Beat turns all the bananas in the game into spray cans, honoring the Jet Set brand, while Axel turns bananas into coins, allowing you to earn some crazy money!
- But that’s not all! You can equip your monkey with 15 new customization items, including outfits for Shadow, NiGHTS, Gilius, Akira, and Majima.
- SEGA Pass, individual character packs, and costume sets are all available for purchase separately. Players who upgrade to the Digital Deluxe Edition will save on the entire pack!
