New York Bridge Stuck Open Due to Overheating

The Third Avenue Bridge, which connects New York’s Bronx with Manhattan, was stuck open due to high temperatures on Monday.

FDNY officers arrived by boat and sprayed water on the structure to try to cool the metal that was expanding due to the city’s high temperatures, officials said.

The incident caused major traffic congestion on one of the hottest days of the year in New York but was reopened later the same day.
