What do you do on December 1? Put the Christmas tree up? Open the first door of your Advent Calendar? Or have a more recent browser eShop’s Choice? Of course, it’s the latter!

We’re looking back at November before heading into the holiday season, and while those in North America may be recovering from their Thanksgiving overindulgence, we hope everyone can find something that they want to play during the festival. As always, this list of games was voted on by Nintendo Life staff and contributors — they chose the top three from the eShop games we reviewed, and you’ll see the results below.

For October Readers’ Choice, there was a fairly even spread of votes across several games, but the tactical RPG feral has emerged victorious! Blending game XCOM-style combat with procedural storytelling and has been on Steam for three years, but the Switch version looks pretty good.

Comfortable? So let’s look back at November on the eShop.

November isn’t as crowded as October, but it’s still a quality month on the eShop. If you’re resisting the Black Friday sales and just want something brand new, you can’t go wrong with any of these…

However, here are our top 3…

What is this? Tied for third place for two consecutive months!?

Well, it’s worth noting the votes for both Nine Sol and the next game included Stevens so they both won the bronze medal. This may look cute with its kitten-centric art, but it’s a grown-up Metroidvania with a focus on challenging combat and great presentation.

It was celebrated when it launched on PC earlier this year, and we’re happy to finally get to use it on Switch, delivering an experience that isn’t too shabby. 8/10 in our review.

Sneak under the veil of the Carpathian night — and arrive late for Halloween, this loving return to a classic Castlevania surprised us and made it into the top three.

The main cast may not have much of a ‘starring’ role, but the game itself offers some top-notch, high stakes (gedit?), hunt vampires in the 8-bit style we love.

We gave the prize Carpathian Nights starring Bela Lugosi ONE 8/10 in our review.

Sneaking in late in the year and derailing our GOTY list is a highlight-reel adventure that takes classic LucasArts-style comedy and turns it into an Agatha Christie-style romp.

Its title alone makes it worth studying, but Loco DynamicsIts gorgeous pixel art and impeccable humor make the film a huge success and all the more worthy On August 10, we awarded the prize. If it weren’t for a few annoying errors, it probably would have scored higher! Let’s hope Patchville is the next stop.

Readers’ Choice eShop (November 2024)

Now it’s your turn to tell us which eShop games we missed in November! We’ve been juggling rumors about Mario & Luigi, Switch 2, DS’s anniversary and Black Friday deals, so something has definitely slipped through the cracks.

Please note that we will actually be retiring the monthly Readers’ Choice section in eShop Selects starting in 2025. We have curated a bi-annual list of The game we missedso you still have a chance to tell us about games we haven’t had a chance to try elsewhere.

On another note, we To be are doing reviews for Life is Strange: Double Exposure (with shadows falling in the middle of the month) and Spirit mage. Otherwise, whatever we miss is game. Also, don’t forget to vote for our top picks.

How We Decide Our eShop Top Three Placements: As we reach the end of each month, Nintendo Life staff will vote on their favorites from a list of games selected by the editorial team. To qualify for this list, these games must have been released as digital-only Nintendo Switch eShop titles during that specific month and must have been rated on Nintendo Life; We select eligible games based on their review scores.

Staff were then asked to vote on three games they thought deserved to be at the top of that list; The first choice gets three points, the second choice gets two points and the third choice gets one point. These votes are then compiled to create a top three list, with the overall winner taking that month’s top prize.
