Well, we think that might be the case. After a week of explosive Grand Festival action, Nintendo has announced that Splatoon 3“Regular updates” will end.

The tweet notification was quick to clarify that just because this is the end, doesn’t mean it’s endWhile we may not see any regular updates to the game, seasonal events like Splatoween, Frosty Fest, Spring Fest, and Summer Nights will still appear with some returning themes, and Big Run, Eggstra Work, and Monthly Challenges will also continue “for the time being.”

Sad, to be sure, but perhaps not the most surprising news in the wake of the pandemic. tweet from @SplatoonJP called the Big Festival the “final battle” in July — speaking of the revelations, Oh my God.

The culminating 72-hour Splatfest took place this weekend, complete with a massive arena for live performances from some of the series’ most famous faces. Team Past emerged victorious, putting on a stellar performance to win 500 coins and the “What’s Most Important to You?” battle.

Thanks, Splatoon 3! It’s awesome.
