Key points of ZDNET

  • The Eufy Clean X9 Pro CleanerBot available for $900.
  • This is a convenient robot vacuum/mop combination device with impressive cleaning capabilities powered by AI.
  • However, the dust bin is quite small and needs to be emptied by hand after each cleaning.

The Eufy Clean X9 Pro CleanerBot, the new 2-in-1 robot vacuum, boasts deep cleaning and hands-free mopping capabilities, along with 5,500pa of suction power. It also uses some impressionism powered by AI navigation features to move around your home.

Also: I tested the new model of my favorite two-in-one robot vacuum, and it’s better in every way

Initially, I was not excited about trying another medication Robot vacuum cleaner cleans the house (I tested a similar one recently), but when I watched the Eufy X9 Pro work across the floors of my home, my mind changed.

CleanerBot really lives up to its name, works better than my old version Roborock and Yeedi MopStation Pro in vacuuming and mopping functions. Suction power at maximum capacity of 5,500pa is outstanding. And the main brush has no bristles, instead made of silicone pads, which also effectively clean floors.

In my limited experience (since I’ve only tested this model for about a week), the main silicone brush makes the X9 Pro less tangled because it’s easier to scoop up debris than to sweep it.

The mopping function on the Eufy X9 Pro CleanerBot is one of the two features that impress me the most. The X9 Pro has two rotating mop pads — which I love in terms of form robot vacuum cleaner/mop combo — creates 2.2 lbs of downward pressure to break up stubborn stains, an especially helpful feat in my home with kids and pets.

The other standout feature, and perhaps my favorite, is the use of AI for navigation, obstacle avoidance, and mapping. CleanerBot has a time-of-flight sensor and an AI camera system, called AI See, that helps detect and avoid objects so the vacuum doesn’t suck up your child’s socks or stuffed animals.

It also uses iPath Laser Navigation to create a map of your home, helps separate rooms by color in the Eufy Clean app, and even shows you what obstacles the robot has found in each room. When you review the map after cleaning, you’ll see things like electrical wires, shoes, and trash marked on the map.

Eufy isn’t the first to use this technology for obstacle avoidance and mapping, but it’s a great feature. I hate having to pick up every last piece of paper my kids drop before I can start cleaning – only to have the robot vacuum still stuck on the power cord somewhere.

Also: This robot vacuum has a great self-cleaning feature that I didn’t know I needed

The Eufy Clean app lets you customize settings for charging, cleaning intensity, voice, etc. And it also lets you choose from among the rooms the robot automatically creates on a map so you can dispatch it. Go clean up the area, such as a muddy entryway. You can choose to clean areas as small as 1.6 ft x 1.6 ft on the map in the event of an oil spill.

In addition to the AI See camera suite, CleanerBot also has a sensor to detect floor types in case you are running the X9 Pro in vacuum and mop mode and it hits a carpet or rug. When the robot detects a carpet, it lifts the mop to keep it off the carpet and vacuums only the soft surface.

Here’s something else I’m happy to see: The X9 seriously goes back to its place to wash mop pads instead of waiting until they’re overdue for cleaning. I don’t like to see my robot mop dragging around dirty, dry mop pads minutes after it should have returned to refresh, but I didn’t find this to be a problem with the X9.

ZDNET Buying Tips

The Eufy Clean X9 Pro CleanerBot costs $900 and is the perfect choice for those looking for a robot vacuum and mop combination for a home with a lot of hard floors, whether they’re tiled or hardwood, with one mixed in. Few carpets or rugs.

It doesn’t have a self-emptying trash bin and the trash bin has to be emptied after each cleaning session because it’s quite small. However, the mopping feature and suction power are impressive, especially the mop that can absorb the stains and dirt that I use. Yeedi MopStation Pro left behind.
