Origins announced for PS5 – first gameplay details – PlayStation.Blog

Hello, I’m Jesus Iglesias, game director at Saber Interactive. We recently revealed that upcoming title Turok: Origins would be coming to PS5, so we’ve gathered some burning questions surrounding the new announcement. I’m excited to share more details about the upcoming release of Turok: Origins with the PlayStation Blog.

Can you talk more about the third one and why you decided to go that route?

We’re all big fans of the previous games and the entire series. But ultimately we wanted to explore a different direction from Turok before title. Saber has a long history of creating third-person shooters, and our experience in that space gives us a unique opportunity to grow the franchise while keeping the same elements. Familiarity creates a great Turok experience. We’ve created a new look for the classic Turok franchise that fans both old and new will enjoy.

What is your view on the history of the Turok franchise?

Traditionally, Turok is a very eclectic brand, mixing elements as diverse as dinosaurs, aliens and robots. We feel we have begun a new chapter for the Turok: Origins series.

Turok: How does the origin fit into the Turok legend?

Turok​: Origin​ Fits perfectly with Turok universe as the legendary Turok Warriors unite to save humanity from a rampaging alien species and complete destruction. As the story unfolds, players will uncover ancient mysteries tied to the Order of the Turok and its history.

Why do you think the appreciation for Turok has been so enduring?

We believe it has a little something for everyone, perfect for the imagination of players who love to explore strange, wonderful worlds in the universe, adventuring across new planets , new creatures and enemies and of course fighting dinosaurs.

What are some of the most exciting challenges and opportunities in bringing Turok back to modern times?

Challenges with giving Turok’s return is similar to what we face with any major project. The gaming market is very competitive and there are always new and exciting things that we need to be ready for. But we see Turok as a very exciting opportunity as it has a strong heritage with unique features that make it stand out with its dinosaurs, aliens, action and exploration.

Should players play the original Turok to enjoy/understand the game?

Players do not need to have played previous Turok games to understand and appreciate Turok: Origins. This is a completely new, standalone adventure.

Why does Turok: Origins include co-op instead of just a single-player experience?

While Turok: Origins can certainly be enjoyed as a single-player experience, we also wanted to create a game that friends could experience together. Since the story is tied to the lore and history of the Order of the Turok and there is more than one Turok, we saw this as an opportunity to introduce co-op to the franchise.
